Tools + Requirements
If you plan on working in game field construction, there are certain tools that the subteam uses throughout the course of the season.
- A measuring tool on your phone or computer that can measure angles and other dimensions that a tape measure does not. iPhones come with Apple Measure.
- Pen and paper (or the notes app on your phone) to keep track of measurements and or key components that are not covered in the instructions.
This is a very hands on team - so most if not all of our work will be with our hands and most tools will be supplied in the Design Shop.
Skills
Section titled “Skills”During the season game field construction’s goal is to create mocks or replicas of the real game pieces used during that specific season to allow the rest of the team to have a feeling of what the competition may look like. To create these pieces and objects we will use the following skills:
- Drilling with power tools into wood like 2/4’s, ½ and plywood.
- Able to cut wood safely with power saws and saws.
- Following instructions safely and effectively.
Remember learning is apart of the process - don’t worry if you haven’t learned some of these skills as team members are willing to help out.
Conclusion
Section titled “Conclusion”Game field construction is all about building, following directions, learning, and most importantly, having fun. Overall the team is welcoming and willing to help no matter the circumstance and a great team to work on and helps teach you skills that stay with you for the rest of your life.
